Both Hands Project
It’s officially Spring and we couldn’t be more excited. There are definitely the obvious reasons we’re ushering in the new season with child-like glee such as awesome weather and beautiful flowers, the smell of freshly cut grass, but then there are other reasons, such as our Both Hands project coming up! This project has been in our thoughts and prayers since last Autumn, however we figured it’d be best to wait until Spring to actually hold the work day.
If you’re not familiar with Both Hands projects, they’re an incredible opportunity both to serve and to be served. Both Hands helps families like ours fundraise for adoption through gaining financial sponsorship as we complete a service project by helping a widow in our community. It’s just like sponsoring someone in a walkathon or golf tournament, only instead of spending the day playing golf or walking around, we’ll be fixing up a widow’s home. The widow benefits, an orphan is brought closer to home, and we spend the day serving others. Another cool thing about this project is that no admin fees are deducted, so 100% of funds received go towards our adoption costs! Here’s a little 3 minute video explaining more.
So on April 30th we will be getting a team together to serve Ms. Birdie, the sweetest lady you’ll ever meet. She lives in McCalla, and her husband of 38 years passed away suddenly in 1989. The two of them worked together as ministers at the Salvation Army for many years. Birdie, now in her 80’s, still works several odd jobs and cooks dinner every week for her church. She has 4 kids, 9 grandkids, and 18 great grandkids! She has a servant’s heart and loves the Lord!
So would you like to help?
1. You can become part of our fundraising support team. By being part of the fundraising support team, you can join us on April 9th for a letter packing party. This is such a crucial aspect of the project, and it’s how we’re able to actually raise money for our adoption. All you have to do is show up with 20-30 names and addresses of friends, family, and colleagues that you could send the support letter to! We’ll provide the pizza, the letters, the postage, and even gift card prizes for the leading letter packers!
2. You can help on project day. Not able to pack letters? There are plenty of things you can do to help us out with the project day. Have connections with businesses that wouldn’t mind donating to some of our project tasks? Perfect! Have tools and materials you could let us borrow for our project tasks? Sweet! Want to help work on project day? Wonderful! We’ll be doing painting, pressure washing, gardening, and several other jobs around Ms. Birdie’s home. We’d love your help in making this day a big success. Reach out and let us know how you want to take part.
3. Make a donation yourself. There are two ways you can make a donation. Remember, your donation is tax-deductible and 100% of it goes straight to our adoption costs! You can give online by clicking here or you can make donation checks payable to Both Hands Foundation and include “Allen #265 in the memo line. Then mail your check to:
