I Gots the Fever!
If you’ve been following my blog, you know that this little shot has been very elusive. Today was my FOURTH trip to the doctor for this shot. The previous 3 times, they had run out of it (and didn’t call me or even return my phone calls to prevent me from making the trip for nothing). So this is truly exciting that I am now COMPLETELY DONE with shots for Africa.
Blake still does not know yet whether he needs the yellow fever shot. He may have gotten it in boot camp. So we gave his medical records to the doctor to confirm whether or not he needs it. They have had his records now for over 2 months. We have called nearly every day for the past week to find out for sure (because time is running out for him to get it…especially since the clinic keeps running out of it). Every time we’ve called, we’ve either just had to leave a message or were told “we’ll check on that today and give you a call back.” And of course, they’ve never called us. I asked about it (again) today when I was at the clinic and I was told (again) that they would call me this afternoon and let me know. We’ll see about that.
Anyways, changing the subject…we have now learned of some items that the orphanages we will be visiting are in need of. If you would still like to help us out in a tangible way, we could really use some help getting the following items:
- twin bed sheets – our contacts in Africa said that they are in need of sheets for over 400 beds so this is a huge need.
- tan burlap
- baby formula
- underwear for all ages
- paper (construction paper, magazines, scrapbook paper)
- fishing line
- glue sticks
Just let me know if you would like to donate any of these items! Some of them you may even just have lying around your house. Blake and I will be making a shopping trip later in the month to purchase a lot of this, so just give it to us as soon as you can! Thanks again for all your prayers and support.
A MONTH FROM TODAY, WE WILL BE ON A PLANE TO AFRICA!!!!!
