It’s never fun to ask someone for money, but honestly, it’s a necessary part of every non-millionaire’s mission trip. Some people get irritated when asked for money, but ya know what, it’s not for a new convertible, it’s to deliver hope to people who have none. Who can put a price on that?
Anyways, so Blake and I have realized that we have 3 months until we leave for Africa and really just barely 2 1/2 months to raise the money we need. And 2 1/2 months is not a lot of time to raise $7000. Yeah you read that right. It’s a lot of money. So reality is really setting in, and we know we are in a time crunch! Of course we have to continually remind ourselves that God is in charge, He will provide, He’s not rushed, He’s been planning this forever and He knows what He’s doing. The reason we are CONTINUALLY reminding ourselves of these things is because we keep forgetting…often. Honestly, we’ve been extremely blessed in our finances and blessed with friends and family who are generous, and we have no reason to doubt that God will in fact provide for us. Getting all the money needed for this trip is seriously going to be a miracle. Not even kidding. It will be. A bonafide miracle.
So today’s project has been the infamous “fundraising for a mission trip letter.” There’s a Christian Humor (yes, that’s it’s own genre now) blog called Stuff Christians Like and the author recently wrote a post about the aforementioned “fundraising for a mission trip letter.” So check it out if you are unfamiliar with such a thing and why it’s infamous.
Anyways, this is exactly what I have been working on today. I’ve typed it all up, now we just need to get a list of people to send it to and their addresses. Luckily, we still have the wedding invitation list so that’s a good place to start. If you would like a letter detailing our trip, please put your address in a comment or email it to me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Blake and I really do need your support. I know many of you would like to go on a trip like this but are unable to. If that’s the case, then be a part of our trip and “sponsor” us! Remember, it’s for the orphans in Africa!! (Ok so that may be a low blow, but it’s still true!). Plus, all donations are tax deductible. If you would like to donate, there are two ways:
1. Click on the DONATE link on the right. In “Fund Category” click on Ethiopia & Rwanda, June 29, 2012. Then select Team Member or Ministry Name and type in either Blake Allen or Lindsay Allen.
2. Write a check made out to Visiting Orphans. In the “For” line please put Blake and Lindsay Allen. Mail it to P.O. Box 668, Nolensville, TN 37135.
We hope that whether or not you support us financially that you can still support us spiritually. Please be in prayer for us! Pray that we trust fully in God’s provision and don’t stress out about it (Matthew 6:31-33).
